CVN77 USS George H W Bush
The USS George H. W. Bush is the 10th Nimitz-class nuclear-powered carrier. The ship will operate for more than 20 years without refueling and will serve the nation until around 2059. The carrier is powered by two nuclear reactors, will stretch to 1,092 feet, weighs 97,000 tons and will exceed a top speed of 30 knots.The commissioning ceremony took place at the U.S. Naval Station, Norfolk, Virginia on January 10, 2009. Among the attendees were the ship’s namesake, the 41st president of the United States, George Herbert Walker Bush, his son, President George W. Bush, 43rd president, Secretaries of Defense and the Navy, the Chief of Naval Operations, various senators and congressional leaders.
The organizers of the commissioning, the Navy League, contracted with Faircount to produce the official publication “FREEDOM AT WORK - The USS GEORGE H.W. BUSH (CVN 77)".
